The Manual

The Apology

Synopsis: A thirty-minute documentary that captures the most significant political and social event in contemporary Australian history; the day the Prime Minister apologized for the atrocities committed against Indigenous Australians since colonization. The documentary delves in to the Stolen Generations and features stories of Aboriginal People who were directly affected by these stringent government policies. Narrated by iconic Australian actor Jack Thompson, The Apology has screened on ABC television, international festivals, and the United Nations in 2008.

Synopsis: Kris Ackerman is embarking on a journey to become a socially accepted man. Named Kristy Louise Ackerman at birth, Kris says he was ‘born in the wrong body’ and has never been able to identify as being of the female gender. For the past ten years, Kris has been saving money for a gender re-assignment, an operation that will physically affirm his masculine identity.
